GCCI BULLETIN OCTOBER 2019

14TH JANUARY 2019

Dear members,

Half of the financial year 2019/20 has already elapsed and there seems to be no respite to the southward journey of our economy graph. To what extent are the global trends and sentiments responsible for this! Is a million-dollar question.

However, being an optimist, I feel this is the time for all to hold the fort and restrain from extravagance in hope of better times to come, which I am confident will see the light of the day sooner than later.

Back home in Goa, we have just concluded a mega event “Vibrant Goa” which saw an unprecedented response from the Goa Government and industry worldwide. The participation of delegates from across continents has only strengthened the fact that Goa is looked at as a Vibrant business destination rather than only a very successful tourism venue. Let’s hope that we can build business relationships on the contacts developed at the conclave. A detailed report of the entire event is presented in this issue to give you an insight into this mega event.

It was a pleasure for me to be a panelist for the “India Today Conclave” held on the sidelines of Vibrant Goa. On behalf of Goan industries, I put up a strong case for Goa to be an apt business destination and also made a point to oppose the unwarranted activism to disturb industrial growth in the state.

For benefit of all members, I would like to also inform you that the Goa Government’s decision to reduce road tax for automobiles by 50% has generated huge revenue for the Government. There is a substantial increase in sales thus ensuring increased GST collection as well. Needless to mention, the Auto Industry is happy too.

Let’s hope that our Hon. CM Dr. Pramod Sawant takes a leaf out of this and also announces relief for the Real Estate Sector on lines of representation made by GCCI and CREDAI.

IFFI is round the corner and the preparations have already started. Film Industry / Production has a huge potential to grow in Goa and let’s hope that we can use this opportunity to market Goa as a destination for the same.

As I conclude, I would urge you to please contribute to GCCI monthly bulletin by way of articles/ reports from your industry/sector to make this channel more vibrant and informative.

Best Regards

Manoj M. Caculo
