GCCI BULLETIN FEBRUARY 2021
23RD MARCH 2021
Dear Members,
The month of February has been probably the most uneventful month of my entire tenure as President of GCCI so far. For most of the month, I have been ” out of circulation for health reasons and I am very much grateful to First Vice President Mr. Ralph De souse and GCCI secretariat under the leadership of R.S Kamat for holding the fort and ensuring the smooth functioning of the chamber during my absence.
As is customary the live telecast of the Union Budget presented by Hon. Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitaraman was well attended by various association heads and GCCI office bearers the interaction with the press with comments on the budget was also very well accepted and appreciated by all concerned. This year’s talk on the Union budget by experts in the field was conducted via Webinar for the first time due to the Covid 19 restrictions.
The GCCI’s, IRHR committee was very active in successfully conducting a series of 4 webinars on the recently amended labor codes. These webinars conducted with top faculty in the field were very well appreciated by all in the industry since these vast and complex topics were effectively and efficiently covered.
I am proud to inform all members that the digitization process of GCCI functioning is going forward oppressively. Now besides the certificate of Origin which is issued online, the GCCI Membership Application, as well as Renewals, can be done online too. I’m sure this step will help further improve the efficiency of the GCCI secretariat and provide faster services to members.
In the coming month, the state budget will be presented and we have already started collating the data to make a very emphatic and meaningful pre-budget representation on behalf of the industry to the Hon. Chief Minister. We are optimistic that our suggestions will be taken very positively by the government.
As regards the overall industrial scenario is concerned, we are seeing a little bit of improvement and are optimistic that next fiscal should be much more promising & growth-oriented.
Best Regards
Manoj M. Caculo
